"Starting with the works of H. Dressel, H. Bloch and E.M. Steinby, a remarkable number of studies on italics and provincial brickstamps have been conducted. The stamping process of the greek world, however, has been little investigated, and the only systematic collections concern the brickstamps of Corfu, Constantinople and western Sicily. Lateres Signati Graeci is the first corpus, consisting of 320 brickstamps from the excavations of Athens and Attica dating from the 6th century B.C. to teh 4th century A.D. The stamps are organized in a catalogue, arranged by tipology of support (antefixes, pan and cover tiles, simae, clay tubes and bee hives) and by content (names of eponymous, signs of public ownership, names of towns, ethnics, names of public and sacred buildings, names of producers, monograms and anepigraphic symbols). The stamps are geo-referenced and the contexts of recovery and provenance are recorded. The final analysis, with indices and tables, provides an initial summary of the stamped productions of Athens and Attica"--
